August 19, 2013: See My Child, I Have My Hands on You

This week felt like a series of “Oh God, where are you?” moments. One cloudy day, as I gazed up at the sky, a gentle thought came to me. The moon can be seen all over the world, but sometimes clouds, thick and dark, can obscure its bright light. This made me reflect on my life. Even though the light is within me, there are times, like now, when dark clouds mix with heavy white ones, temporarily covering that inner light.

Back in the States, running my hair salon business, I felt in control. But here in Jamaica, I’m raw and vulnerable, questioning my purpose. When you commit to God’s will, it’s easy to forget that commitment when things get tough. However, if you stand still, the clouds that seem like they will never pass do eventually move on because the light within us cannot be covered for too long.

This week, I sought a breakthrough from God, hoping to be in the right position to witness His goodness. He sent a little rain to remind me He is with me and to hold on.

Here are three blessings I received:

  1. A Mighty Woman of God: God sent a blessing through a powerful woman of faith.
  2. A Painful Past Transformed: Something from my past, which brought so much pain, became a blessing 25 years later, demonstrating God’s redemptive power.
  3. Divine Connections: While doing God’s work, He brought people into my life with whom I connected deeply. Without realizing it, these connections became blessings, simply by being the person God expects me to be.

I am a child of God, and I have victory. God be the glory.
