The Return to Jamaica: March 4 – May 4, 2018
March 4, 2018
It’s been an exhausting journey to get back to Jamaica after my initial discovery trip. I got caught up in the hustle of making money, working in an energy-draining job. Eventually, I decided to take a leap of faith and began packing, asking for donations for my Outreach mission trip. This time, the blessings poured in abundantly.
Leaving Jamaica four years ago, I had no idea the Lord would lead me to Florida for another purpose: becoming an Evangelist. I attended the School of the Prophet in Florida, taught by Prophet GL Hawthorne, who ordained me with credentials as an Evangelist. Thus, Sharon M Kerr Ministries was born.
Our Purpose: Helping People * Restoring Lives
Our Goal: Urban Gardening Projects – We aim to seek vacant lots to create urban gardening projects in rural and city areas of Jamaica. These gardens will cultivate, process, and provide fresh vegetables, herbs, and fruits to children’s homes sponsored by our International Outreach. While we still need to finalize the paperwork for Jamaica and obtain our 501-C nonprofit status, everything falls into divine order.
In 2017, by faith, I rented another apartment (flat) in Montego Bay without seeing it in person—only through pictures. A friend living next door had a neighbor who got killed, leaving an apartment I had always liked. I called Mr. Brooks, the landlord, asking to rent it, but he was hesitant to rent it to someone living abroad. However, he recommended a couple across the street with a vacancy. I spoke to them, and it turned out to be perfect.
The owners, Mr. Broadbell and his wife Miss Janet, are lovely people. Miss Janet is also a gardener, and their yard is filled with beautiful flowers. When I arrived, I felt like family. This place became my home away from home in Jamaica, a secure and safe haven. I call it my getaway place, where friends, family, and anyone on a mission service can stay and feel relaxed. Thanks be to the Lord, Amen.
Recapping February 2014, I collected clothes without knowing where God was leading me, and I ended up at Robin’s Nest Children’s Home with a suitcase full of children’s clothes. Now, on March 4, 2018, returning with a greater understanding of my purpose, I came back with a gigantic box on a pallet. We blessed so many people with school items, personal care products, clothes, and shoes. A young woman named Nesh donated beautiful children’s dresses.
We blessed Robin’s Nest Children’s Home again, as well as the West Haven Children’s Home for the Disabled. Young mothers in a group home also received blessings, along with others in need.
God worked it all out, especially regarding the challenges of dealing with Jamaica Customs and shipping fees. I prayed for a favor, and the Lord provided. Where I should have paid full price, I was charged only half. Even the transportation fee to take the items home was cut in half. God was in control all the way, guiding me for His divine purpose once again.
